Panama Washed Geisha - Hacienda La Esmeralda - Portón 7FB
Portón 7FB — Washed Geisha
Hacienda La Esmeralda · Panama · 2026 Harvest
There are coffees that are exceptional, and then there are coffees that helped redefine what exceptional means.
Hacienda La Esmeralda is one of the most influential coffee estates in the world. In 2004, the Peterson family brought the extraordinary floral character of Panama Geisha to international attention, fundamentally changing the way specialty coffee was understood and valued. More than two decades later, Esmeralda remains a benchmark for clarity, elegance and aromatic complexity.
Portón 7FB comes from the 2026 harvest and represents that unmistakable Esmeralda expression through a meticulous washed process.
The 7FB designation describes the lot and its processing: the number identifies the selective harvest pass, while F refers to fermentation under controlled cold conditions and B to drying on raised beds. This approach is designed to preserve the delicate aromatics and transparency that make washed Geisha so distinctive.
Esmeralda’s washed lots are particularly prized for their ability to express the variety with remarkable precision — lifted florals, bright citrus, delicate stone fruit and an elegant sweetness rather than heavy fermentation character. Long, cool fermentation followed by slow drying can create an exceptionally clean and structured cup while maintaining Geisha’s perfume-like aromatics.
In the cup
Expect an intensely aromatic and refined expression of Panama Geisha.
Jasmine · Orange Blossom · Citrus · Peach · Honey
Floral from the first aroma, followed by vibrant citrus and ripe stone fruit. As the coffee cools, its sweetness becomes increasingly apparent, finishing with a delicate honey-like character and a silky, tea-like texture.
This is not a coffee designed around intensity.
It is about clarity, fragrance and elegance — the qualities that made Hacienda La Esmeralda and Panama Geisha legendary.
